Counselling for Stress Management
Stress is the feeling of being under too much mental or emotional pressure.
Pressure turns into stress when you feel unable to cope.
Many of life’s demands can cause stress, particularly work, relationships and money problems. And, when you feel stressed, it can get in the way of sorting out these demands, or can even affect everything you do.
Stress can affect how you feel, think, behave and how your body works. In fact, common signs of stress include sleeping problems, difficulty concentrating, loss of appetite, overeating, and can lead to anxiety or even depression
Talking through the issues is one of the key ways to tackle stress and counselling can help identify the cause of your stress and identify effective coping techniques to reduce it. I work with many clients experiencing stress, particularly work related stress and working together we explore what is causing it, and then look at a variety of different tools and techniques that can really help.
Here are some examples of changes I have seen in my practice. Clients have:
- Returned to work after a period of absence caused by stress.
- Obtained clarity about what they wanted from their career.
- Developed self-acceptance and self-care to improve their health and wellbeing.
- Found new ways of coping with stressful situations.
- Found new ways of coping with workplace bullying and conflict
- Created a better work/life balance.
- Able to develop the confidence to apply (and get) and promotion at work
