Counselling in Milton Keynes

Hello I’m Karen, and a warm welcome to you.

Seeking help with counselling can feel daunting and you may feel even more anxious.  You’re not sure what to expect, not know what to say, or even how to say it and worried that your problem may sound silly.

Let me reassure you that these are all normal feelings.   All of my clients say they feel this way in the beginning.

My commitment to you is that I will:

  • make you feel comfortable, provide a safe space where you can talk and feel safe and comfortable, and met with kindness, understanding and compassion.
  • help you make sense of what is happening in your life and help you to see things in a much clearer way.
  • listen carefully without judgment or interruption but with understanding and compassion.
  • help you to explore your feelings and provide the time to think about yourself and for yourself.
  • help you find your voice and feel more confident

Why I became a counsellor

I spent 27 years in a highly stressful corporate environment and as much as I loved my job I always felt I wanted a more fulfilling career.

The stress in my job took its toll and I found myself struggling with many challenges such as lack of confidence, anxiety and chronic stress.

I felt burnt out and unfulfilled in my life and my mental health suffered.  I hadn’t realised I had been running on empty for some time but I didn’t know how to change.  I felt guilty putting my own needs first because I thought I was being selfish.

A well meaning friend suggested some counselling to help me make sense of what was happening in my life.

I found the most wonderful counsellor who I felt listened and understood me with no judgement, just kindness and compassion.

I began to see the true benefit of being able to talk openly with someone who listened with compassion and helped me understand myself better.

The experience allowed me to gain perspective and make some big changes in my life with their support and encouragement along the way

I decided to retrain as a therapist/counsellor and followed my passion of helping people feel better about themselves, improve their well being and feel good about themselves again.

It is a truly humbling experience to sit next to someone and help guide them to uncover a greater understanding of themselves and make incredible changes to their lives, being free of anxiety, feeling more confident, or simply understanding their purpose in life.

I hope that I can help you see these things too.  Please reach out, and let’s start a conversation.

What some of my clients say

I luckily found Karen while going through a difficult time, from the first session she gave me ways to start thinking positively and gave me different processes to help keep anxiety down. Through being able to talk to Karen openly I was able to work out what was causing my anxiety which was a big help in turning things around. I would recommend Karen at Mind Calm to anybody who feels they could benefit from therapy.

Karen really stepped in at a time when I saw no way out – she really helped me slow life down and realise I need to enjoy the little things in life.  I really appreciate everything  Karen has helped me work through and see from a different perspective, encouraging me to explore my own solutions and build my confidence and self esteem in the process.    Karen is kind, patient, and demonstrates such empathy and understanding, anyone would be lucky to have her help them in their time of need.

HA

I have seen hypnotherapists before but was really stands out for me about Karen is how she entwines NLP into the hypnotherapy to ensure that the sessions are tailored specifically for her clients.  It is clear that Karen is very passionate about helping people and I really like her compassionate approach.  I would highly recommend Karen.

I am the biggest of sceptics, so after an initial chat with Karen, I wanted to give hypnotherapy a try in relation to my unhealthy eating habits. I was very much on the fence as to wether it works but Karen put me at ease. I booked in with Karen for my first session. I relaxed into the   talk, listening to Karen’s calming voice. I still didn’t think it would work but I can truthfully say that I was well and truly submerged in the experience. As a result, I have curbed some of my bad eating habits and just don’t fancy particular foods. I am shocked at how effective the whole experience was and I actively recommend Karen’s services. A great experience.
