What can I expect from counselling or therapy?
It can feel a little daunting meeting someone you don’t know for the first time, that’s completely normal to feel that way, most clients do, so please don’t think you are alone in thinking this way. It’s probably felt like big step to seek out someone to help and you may be feeling overwhelmed and questioning why you are doing so. That’s ok. Let me help reassure you.
I create a safe, comfortable environment where you will feel supported and understood in confidence. We will talk through what’s on your mind and it’s ok if you don’t know what to say or how to say it, or even where to start, that’s perfectly normal and something most of my clients say when we first meet.
We begin the first session by finding out about you, what your hopes are, what you would like to achieve in our sessions together and what has been troubling you so I can get to know you better and we can work together on a plan of action to get you back to wellness.
I will gently guide you to find your voice, helping you understand yourself better and take back more control of your life, enabling you to evaluate it objectively, helping you feel empowered and more in control in getting your things back on track
During each session we will discuss the changes you feel and any challenges you may have experienced outside of our sessions and also celebrate the successes too. We work at a pace that is entirely comfortable to you in a relaxed, comfortable and friendly environment.
I offer a free 20 minute consultation so we can chat through any concerns or questions you may have and look at how I may be able to help.
It’s really important to me that you feel comfortable, safe and supported and are happy for us to work together.
We will then meet on a regular basis afterwards usually weekly to begin with fo the first 6-8 sessions. Weekly sessions are beneficial in the beginning so that you feel completely supported to begin with.
