FAQs About Counselling

Frequently Asked Questions

You may have questions about counselling, that’s perfectly normal.  Below are some questions that clients usually ask me.

How much do you charge?

I charge £50 for a 1 hour session.

How many sessions will I need?

I offer either short term work (4-6 sessions), or long term work (6+ sessions) and this will depend on what you are looking for support with and we can discuss this in the consult call.   The number of sessions will depend on what outcome you are looking for and how you feel you are progressing and we can discuss this during our sessions.   My approach ensures you are in control at all times and I will be completely guided as to when you feel ready to end therapy.    As an example some clients will have a number of sessions and then take a break to put into practice some of the things they have learnt and then may come back for a check in once in a while to look at something different or new that has come up for them.

How do I make an appointment?

In the first instance I offer a free 20 minute consultation to see how I can help but also for you to have the opportunity to ask questions and we can explore how we can work together.

Simply contact me so we can schedule a mutually agreeable time.  You can contact me here and fill out the form.  I aim to respond on the same day where possible.    It can be helpful if you can tell me a little bit about what you would like to talk about but only if you feel comfortable doing so.

What happens during the initial free consultation?

I will ask you to briefly explain your situation and why you are seeking counselling.   I will explain how I work with clients and we can explore how I may be able to help you.   I can answer any questions you may have.

At the end of the consultation, you will have the option to book in a 1 hour  session, or you may need some more time to think about it.  That’s absolutely fine, I appreciate it is a big step to seek counselling and it’s ok to go away and have a think about what you feel is right for you.  There is no obligation to book during the call.

Do you offer Face to Face sessions?

Yes.  I offer face to face sessions in my therapy room in Milton Keynes, MK10 postcode.

What type of sessions do you offer?

I offer face to face, online video (via Zoom) sessions, telephone sessions, and also outdoor therapy.  Find out more about outdoor therapy here.

If you opt for video (zoom) or telephone sessions, I will send you full instructions on how this works and how to get the most out of your sessions.

Is counselling confidential?

What you say in counselling is confidential and what we discuss stays between us and all parties that I work with are informed of my confidentiality policy. However, there are a few exceptions to this, which I will discuss at our first meeting.  I am also GDPR compliant.

Do you work in the evening and weekends?

My opening times are:

  • Monday – Thursday 11am – 8pm
  • Friday – 10am – 6.30pm
